April 2021 Updated Nomination Processing Time for General Skilled Migration Program in South Australia
Last Wednesday, 21 April 2021, the South Australia (SA) Government updated its nomination processing time for the General Skilled Migration (GSM) Program.
The SA Government divides the processing time into two:
- Processing time for critical sector occupations;
- Processing time for other applications.
Additionally, the SA Government also updated the nomination processing time for the BIIP stream, Employer-Sponsored program and DAMA program. The Government also reminds all applicants that the COVID-19 Pandemic may impact the processing time.
So, what is the updated processing time?
All about South Australia Nomination
If you are a skilled worker who wishes to migrate to Australia under the GSM program, you will need a state nomination. State nomination enables the state government of Australia to nominate highly skilled migrants to meet the state’s skills needs; in this case, the South Australia Government can nominate highly skilled migrants to meet South Australia’s skills needs.
You will get additional points for your visa subclass 190 or subclass 491 application by getting a state nomination. Hence, your chance to be qualified for a General Skilled Migration visa will be higher.
To apply for a state nomination from South Australia, you must meet all visa requirements by the Department of Home Affairs and South Australia’s state nomination requirements. Additionally, you must ensure that your nominated occupation is on South Australia’s Skilled Occupation List.

SA State Nomination Requirements for GSM Program
Each Australian state has different nomination requirements. Please be noted that the requirements below only apply for South Australia State Nomination:
- Residency Requirements
- You must be residing in South Australia when you apply for South Australia state nomination.
- Age
- You must be under 45 years old at the time of nomination.
- Occupation
- Your nominated occupation must be on South Australia’s Skilled Occupation List and meet the eligibility requirements for the occupation.
- Skill Assessment
- You must have a valid and positive GSM Skill Assessment from the relevant authority. It must have been issued within the last three years. However, if the skills assessing authority has specified a shorter validity period, the skills assessment is only valid until that specified date.
- Work Experience
- You must meet the work experience requirement listed for your occupation.
- English
- You must meet the minimum English requirement listed for your occupation.
- Points
- You must meet the minimum required points listed for your occupation.

Updated SA Nomination Processing Time for GSM and Other Programs
The SA Government updated its nomination program for GSM and other migration programs. The Government also claims that the processing times for state nomination, endorsement and Regional Certifying Body advice applications are based on the visa types and application requirements.
