- Must have adequate health insurance;
- Must meet the health and character requirements;
- Must not have any debt to the Australian government;
- Must not have had a visa cancelled or refused.
How Much Extra Time Do You Get with This Visa Stream?
As mentioned before, the validity period of the Second Post Higher Education Work stream depends on the location of your education institution and where you live as a holder of the first 485 Visa. Here are the details:
- If you have studied and lived in a Category 2 area (except Tasmania), you will get an additional 1-year stay period.
- If you have studied and lived in a Category 3 area, you will receive an additional 2 years of stay.
- If you have studied and lived in Category 2 – Designated city or major regional centre postcodes in Tasmania, you will get an additional 2 years of stay.

The 485 Visa – Second Post Higher Education Work stream provides full work rights. So, you can work full-time during the validity of your visa. If you want to stay in Australia after your visa expires, you must apply for a different visa subclass.
