ACT-Sponsored Skilled Migration Visa Program To Reopen – COVID-19 Update

Applications for the ACT-Sponsored skilled migration visa program are set to re-open this month, months after the program was closed to give the ACT government time to contain Coronavirus outbreak in the territory.

Following the lead of other states such as Victoria, the ACT government finally announced that the skilled visa nomination program 2021 will commence this month, with no changes in the eligibility criteria and the matrix storing criteria.

Like other states and territories, the ACT can nominate potential migrants, giving the chance to bring in skilled migrants who show a commitment to staying in the territory as permanent residents through the ACT-Sponsored skilled migration visa.

Here are key points of the temporary changes to the ACT-Skilled migration visa program:

  • The ACT Critical list was review and updated on 11 January 2020, to ensure that the migration programs adapt and respond to the changing essential skills needs of the act of the ACT economy;
  • Canberra Matrix is closed for overseas applicants;
  • The first 2021 Matrix invitation round will take place on Friday 15th January 2021.
