Core Skills Occupation List – CSOL (Draft)

Core Skills Occupation List

This JSA consultation focuses on the Core Skills pathway for employment with a median wage greater than $70,000 but less than $135,000. A labour market research of ANZSCO Skill Level 1-3 occupations was the basis for the draft list, which might contain some jobs in other pay bands. However, how this will be handled in the visa regulations is still being determined.

The JSA claims that it used the most recent employment/labour market datasets and generated draft lists that are benchmarked to the 2022 ANZSCO rather than the 2013 version, which will cover new and emerging occupations. This meticulous research process should instil confidence in the draft list.

This is a draft list, as the JSA points out, and more surveys, submissions, bilateral meetings, and qualitative analyses will be done on the list. To facilitate your understanding, three lists can be found below:

• CSOL Confident On List – skilled occupations that the JSA Migration Model is certain should be on the CSOL.
• CSOL Confident Off List – skilled occupations that the JSA Migration Model recommends are not on the CSOL.
• CSOL Confident Targeted for Consultation List – skilled occupations that require further independent research and labour market surveys, company recruitment experiences, and the opinions of Australian and migrant workers and job seekers.

This is a draft list that isn’t in use right now. It has only been made available for consultation. The final version of the Core Skills Occupation List is expected to be released soon.
