Parents are now recognized as Immediate Family Members for Travel Exemption Australia

Australian citizens and permanent residents have been fighting over the definition of an immediate family member in the travel exemption Australia as the definition does not include parents. After all the petitions, the Australian Government finally decided to expand the definition of an immediate family member by including parents of Australian adults.

Immediate Family Member Definition on Travel Exemption Australia

As of 16 October 2021, the Australian Government has updated the definition of the immediate family member on travel exemption Australia on its official website. A parent of an adult Australian is considered as an immediate family member starting from 01 November 2021.

As a result of this, you will be considered as an immediate family member of Australian citizens or permanent residents, if you are:

A spouse;
A de facto partner;
A dependent child;
A legal guardian;
A parent of an adult Australian (available from 1 November 2021).

Condition for Parents of Australian to Travel as Immediate Family Member

Along with this great news, the Australian Government emphasized that parents can travel to Australian states or territories as an immediate family member if the states or territories have reached the 80% Covid-19 vaccination rate. Looking at the current situation where 78.8% of New South Wales’ citizens have been fully vaccinated, Sydney might be the first place to be visited by parents of Australians on 01 November 2021.

Additionally, if the Australian’s parents are fully vaccinated, they will not be required to complete a hotel quarantine which takes 14 days.

It was during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021 that I initially collaborated with Onederland, when the Australian border was closed, and everyone was unable to enter the country for any reasons.I needed to make a Visa for my boss for a very important business in Australia.When we first spoke with Ms. Indah and Ms. Desti, they did not guarantee that we would have the travel exemption, Ms. Indah even made the offer for us to cancel our plan to work with them due to the fact that she was unable to ensure receiving the needed VISA.However, following our pilot conversation, our company is even more convinced to work with Ms. Indah and team in order to obtain Australia's permission for the Travel Exemption. I actually have another option of Migration Agent in Melbourne whom I knew them before. Getting a visitor visa shouldn't be so difficult, or take so long, but unfortunately my partner and I found out the hard way. We applied ourselves in February 2022 and received a refusal four months later.We used ONEderland to reapply and nine weeks later we have had the visa granted. After two years of covid travel restrictions we could have saved six months and a lot of stress by going to ONEderland in the first instance. Even with the burden of the pandemic they achieved 100% success rate when it came to visas and exemptions for my wife, son and step son.
