She once believed in a beautiful future. In September 2013, she applied for a temporary Partner Visa with her Australian-citizen ex-husband. The visa was granted in November 2013, and their life together seemed perfect with the presence of their beautiful daughter.
Shortly after the grant of her Partner Visa, Angel went to her home country with her little family. They stayed for a few years there, planning on their future. Their decision was clear: they would settle in Australia permanently, so Angel gave up everything in her home country, selling her house and belongings, to build a new life with her family in Australia.
But her dream quickly turned into a nightmare.
Abandoned, Betrayed & Left with Nowhere to Go
In August 2016, Angel’s Permanent Partner Visa was refused because of her ex-husband’s negligence in responding to critical requests from the Department of Home Affairs. Still, she tried to hold onto hope.
Later, in November 2020, she was granted fast-track approval for entry due to a medical letter confirming her husband suffered from PTSD. In February 2021, Angel’s ex-husband kicked her out of the house and cut off her access to their daughter. It was getting worse as her visa expired that same day, and her husband refused to sponsor her for any visa. Suddenly, Angel was stranded, alone, and without legal status in Australia.

With COVID-19 travel restrictions and no home to return to, Angel was desperate. But her biggest concern wasn’t herself; it was her daughter.
