Tasmanian Skilled Occupation List Overview

Tasmanian Government is actively seeking skilled and business migrants in recognition of the significant contribution made by migrants to Tasmania’s economic and cultural diversity.

The Tasmanian Skilled Occupations List (TSOL) identifies skills that are currently in demand in Tasmania.

Tasmanian Skilled Occupation List

The list is derived of eligible occupations from the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) and Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491), defined by the Australian Government.

Subclass 190 – Skilled Nominated Visa

The Skilled Nominated visa (Subclass 190) is a permanent residence visa for skilled workers what allows to live and work in Tasmania. State nomination from Tasmania for this visa provides you with five additional points to help meet the Department of Home Affairs points test pass mark of 65 points. More information on this is available under ‘Eligibility. If you are nominated by the Tasmanian Government for this visa, you must live in Tasmania for two years after the visa is granted.

Subclass 491 – Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa

The Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) is a provisional visa for skilled workers which allows the nominated applicant to live and work in Tasmania up to five years. State nomination from Tasmania for this visa provides 15 additional points to help to meet the Department of Home Affairs’ points test 65 points mark. You may be eligible to apply for permanent residency through the Subclass 191 Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) visa after you have lived in Tasmania for at least three years and earned a minimum taxable income that meets the minimum threshold determined by the Department of Home Affairs (currently set at AU$53,900).

However, one needs to have skills and experience matching the nominated occupation when applying for the Tasmania state nomination.

Overseas Applicants

The applicants applying for Tasmania nomination from overseas, need to meet the criteria for overseas applicant Category (3A) for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491).

Also, certain occupations are designated as “High Demand” in the below TSOL list.

Applicants for nomination under the ‘Overseas Applicant Category (3A)’ for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) do not require to provide employability research and evidence if they fulfil the experience, English requirements and any other items specified for that occupation.
