What are the Minimum Requirements for Western Australia State Nomination under the Graduate Stream?
To be nominated under the Graduate Stream of Western Australia (WA) state nomination program, either through the 190 Visa or 491 Visa, you must meet specific requirements. Additionally, your nominated occupation must be listed on the Graduate Occupation List (GOL).
What is the Graduate Stream under the Western Australia State Nomination Program?
The Western Australia state nomination program has two streams: the Graduate stream and the General stream. The Graduate Stream is specified for international students who have completed vocational education and training (VET) or higher qualifications in Western Australia.
What are the requirements for the Graduate Stream WA?
To be invited under the Graduate Stream for WA state nomination, you must meet the following requirements:
- Have a nominated occupation on the Graduate Stream Occupation List.
- Have a positive Skills Assessment that matches your nominated occupation. Skills Assessment issued for a 485 Visa is not accepted.
- Meet the minimum requirements for a 190 Visa or 491 Visa specified by the Department of Home Affairs.

What are the study requirements for the Graduate Stream?
The study requirements for the Graduate Stream for WA state nomination are quite complex, but in general, you must have:
- completed at least one qualification (listed below) in Western Australia and
- studied in Western Australia:
- at an accredited WA education institution;
- full time;
- in a face-to-face learning environment;
- for at least two academic years.
The minimum qualification for the Graduate stream is:
- university or higher education qualification:
- A PhD or Masters degree;
- Higher degree (Bachelor Honours Degree, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma); or
- Bachelor.
- a vocational education and training (VET) qualification at a Certificate III level or higher.
To prove your qualification, you must provide the following evidence:
- Award ceritificate/s;
- A record of your results, such as transcript/s or a statement of attainment showing two years of full-time study in Western Australia; and
- A letter from your education provider confirming your study duration and study load, start and completion date.
Important note: if you studied at multiple institutions, to fulfil the two-year study requirement, a letter must be provided from each education provider.
What are the English Language requirements?
The minimum English language requirements for the Graduate stream WA are:
- IELTS overall band score of 6.0 (with no individual band less than 6.0).
- OET minimum B grade in all test components.
- TOEFL iBT with a minimum total score of 12 in Listening, 13 in Reading, 21 in Writing, and 18 in Speaking.
- PTE Academic with a minimum of 50 points on all test components.
- Cambridge C1 Advanced with a minimum of 169 points on all test components
Note: if you are a passport holder of the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, the USA, or the Republic of Ireland, you don’t need to sit an English test.
How will the WA Government assess your application?
The WA Government will assess all documents and information submitted. The assessment process may include contacting your educational institutions directly to confirm the information provided. This process is designed to ensure the integrity of the application process and to verify the accuracy of the information provided.

Are there any consequences if you provide false information?
Providing accurate and truthful information is crucial. If you provide false information, the WA Government can refuse your application. Additionally, you may face more serious consequences, such as a permanent ban on applying for an Australian visa.
