  1. More time in finding a new employer if your sponsorship ceases.
  2. Permission to change employer multiple times within 365 days for the total of your visa validity period.
  3. Permission to work for other employers in any occupation if your sponsorship ceases.

You can find a new employer within 180 days. 

Previously, finding a new employer within 90 days was a challenge. However, with the new adjustment, you now have a generous 180 days to secure a new employer if your sponsorship ceases after 1 July 2024. This extended timeframe is expected to significantly ease the process of finding a new sponsorship.

You can change your employer multiple times in 365 days for the total validity of your visa.

In addition, the adjustment on Australian working visa conditions allows you to change employer multiple times but only in 365 days for the total of their visa validity.

For example, your sponsorship with business A ceased today, and you successfully secured a new sponsorship with business B in 180 days. Later, your sponsorship ceases again with Business B, and you still have a chance to find a new sponsorship and successfully secure it with Business C in 180 days. Here, you have already changed your employer in 360 days, so you cannot change your employer again, as you don’t have another 180 days to find a new employer.

However, if you can find a new employer in less than 180 days, you may still be able to change employers later.

482 Visa Conditions Update

You can work for any job to support yourself while finding a new sponsor

Next, the Australian Government also allows you to work for any job while looking for a new sponsorship. You can work in an occupation not approved for your latest nomination. The adjustment will allow you to support yourself while seeking a new sponsorship.

However, you must first report to the Department of Home Affairs that your sponsorship has ceased. Only after that can you start working in any occupation while finding a new sponsor. Ensure that you find a new sponsor within 180 days.

It should be noted that when finding a new sponsor, you must ensure that you have met the requirements for the nominated occupation.

To whom does this adjustment on Australian working visa conditions apply?

The adjustment on Australian working visa conditions apply to:

  • Existing 482 Visa, 457 Visa, and 494 Visa holders whose sponsorship cease on or after 1 July 2024; and
  • 482 Visa, 457 Visa and 494 Visa granted on or after 1 July 2024.

If you hold a 482, 457, or 494 Visa and your sponsorship ceased before 1 July 2024, the adjustment on Australian working visa conditions does not apply to you.
